Calcite and two UV lights

So in love with this little calcite that came with my new SW lamp! It's a calcite romb...a common thing, but what makes it rather unusual is that it reacts to both long wave and short wave and displays different behaviors under them.

Under normal lighting, the calcite is colorless as most "optical" calcite crystals are.

Under LW UV light, the crystal fluoresces bright pink.

Under SW UV light, the crystal turns blue and actually has a very nice phosphorescent display..meaning it will continue to glow a few seconds after the light is removed.

Not all calcite does this, so this was a very nice specimen to include in the SW light kit!
